Stars sign talented Australian defender for 2026

The Go Media Stars have rounded out their defensive end with the inclusion of promising Australian defender Aimee Landrigan for the 2026 ANZ Premiership season.

Landrigan joins Kate Burley and Lili Tokaduadua as the Stars’ in-circle defensive options for their next campaign.

The 21-year-old comes to New Zealand having been with the Giants in the Suncorp Super Netball competition this year.

“I’m so excited. I’ve never been to New Zealand and was thinking “Oh my god!” when the opportunity came up. After speaking with the coaches, the culture and community is something I can’t wait to be a part of.” Landrigan said.

“New Zealand has a different style of play defensively to Australia, so I’m excited to take a bit of what I know from the man-on-man defence into the Stars environment and also learn so much to grow my game too.”

Standing at 1.90 metres tall, Landrigan casts an imposing presence on the court and is looking forward to having an opportunity to grow as a player and person in a new environment.

“I play a very man-on-man defensive style and pride myself on being strong and being able to run for days. I know the New Zealand style is very off-line defence, which I’m excited to learn more about. I’m tall, so like to think I have good elevation and presence on the court and I’m vocal at the back end of the court which can be helpful.” Landrigan explained.

“The way the Stars connect with the community is something I haven’t seen many netball teams do. The girls all fit in together and the vibe seems really cool and something I can’t wait to be a part of.”

Looking to take her game to the next level, Landrigan is spurred on by a career highlight, when she go to make her SSN debut against the Fever last season.  

“It’s been the best year of my life being able to make my SSN debut. Getting an opportunity like that doesn’t come easy and was something I’d dreamed of.” Landrigan reflected.

 “It was amazing to play against someone like Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard, who’s one of the best shooters in the world and it highlighted to me I want to be in the high-performance environment and I think it’ll be great taking all I’ve learnt with the Giants into the ANZ Premiership.”
