The Robinhood Stars have finished their ANZ Premiership season on a big high with a 65-46 victory over the Splice Construction Waikato/Bay of Plenty Magic in Auckland.

The Stars started the match looking relaxed and determined to enjoy their last outing as a team in 2021.

Defenders Anna Harrison and Elle Temu were as destructive in the Magic's attacking end as they have been all season. Both Harrison and Temu grabbed hold of a massive amount of ball - the pair combing for a whopping output of eight gains and four intercepts between them in the first quarter alone.

Jamie Hume was at her lethal best in the Stars's shooting circle, nailing all six of her attempts at goal in the first spell.

The Stars put together a strong 15 minute display and led 16-9 at quarter-time.

The Stars continued to play enticing netball in the second quarter and showed no signs of letting up on attack or defence.

Wing defence Lisa Mather was proving to be a mid-court nuisance in her 50th ANZ Premiership match, stretching herself around the court and reeling in an intercept, two gains and multiple tips to disrupt the Magic's flow in the second period.

The Stars made the most of defensive stops and grew their lead - finishing the half up 33-21.

Shooter Monica Falkner was also celebrating a half-century of ANZ Premiership appearances against the side her career begun with and was having fun in the shooting circle in the third quarter - hitting 10 of her 11 shots at goal as the Stars rallied from a sloppy start to the quarter.

Temu and Harrison were continuing to snatch the ball away from the Magic and had another big output at the defensive end - combining for five intercepts, as the Stars headed into the last quarter of their season with a healthy 50-33 advantage.

The Stars made sure to finish the season strongly and with plenty of well-worked plays, strung together some impressive phases from defence to attack which set a vocal home crowd alight.

Coach Kiri Wills had the luxury of being able to empty her bench in the final minutes of the match and as the crowd counted down the final seconds of the Stars' 2021 campaign, the scoreboard would read 65-46 and the Stars players left the court full of smiles.
